First I must say that the production of this magazine has been a dream come true and the merger with "Our Bodies, Our Say" has made it even better. Our goal is to change the way the world views black women and in turn change the way black women view themselves. One of our main focuses is to combat the harmful images that black women face as well as to create an image that is grounded in positivism and realness.
So I give you this first issue of ReCreating(Her) that is filled with though provoking articles that analyze the role black women play in current society. We are mothers, wives, sisters, business women, CEOs, professors and humans. This magazine seeks to give you a sigh of relief that someone finally got the story right. This magazine seeks to support and reinforce the role African American women play in our community.
The Image of the black woman has been maliciously tainted and it is a goal of this magazine to even the score. The black woman is a precious entity and we are ReCreating(Her)Image to restore it back to it's former glory.
